Pine Lake Prep made their way to Durham with a fierce determination to defend their state title, which they had claimed last year. The team came out strong, establishing a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime, thanks in part to the incredible performance of Peyton Peterson, who netted three goals and earned the MVP honors for the match. Additional contributions came from Mara Sweeney and Tabitha Schmedes, who each added to the scoreboard, showcasing the team's depth and talent. Their solid teamwork and strategy led them to a decisive victory.
Defense was the deciding factor for Pine Lake Prep in the last 5 games. 3 goals allowed and an incredible job by goalkeeper Ainsley Parnell for most of the month of May. The defense led by captain Braelyn Iosue, who also received the states 3A sportsmanship award, was stellar once again claiming her second state title. Iosue has had a key late season moment in all 4 years at Pine Lake Prep and will be missed.
